Verify your LinkedIn identity

What LinkedIn verification is, what it unlocks, what data we receive, and how to disconnect.

LinkedIn verification is an optional identity check that connects your Bonito Hub account to your LinkedIn profile. We use it as a lightweight proof of identity for the parts of Bonito Hub where it matters who you are.

What verification unlocks

  • Creating a new organization. Only LinkedIn-verified users can submit a new organization for review.

  • Claiming an existing organization. Same prerequisite — claims must come from a verified identity.

  • Accepting organization invitations. When you accept an invitation to join an organization, we check that you're LinkedIn-verified.

  • The Bonito Community (when it opens, Q3 2026). Membership in the invitation-only Community will require LinkedIn verification.

How to verify

  1. Click Verify LinkedIn account. You'll be redirected to LinkedIn.

  2. Sign in to LinkedIn (if not already) and approve the connection.

  3. You'll come back to Bonito Hub with verification complete.

That's it. The badge on your profile updates immediately.

What data LinkedIn shares with us

LinkedIn sends us only the information you explicitly authorize at the consent screen:

  • Your verified first and last name

  • Your LinkedIn profile picture

  • Your LinkedIn profile URL (your vanity name, e.g. linkedin.com/in/janedoe)

  • Your LinkedIn-verified email address

  • A stable LinkedIn user identifier, which lets us recognize the same LinkedIn account across attempts

We do not receive your contacts, your connections, your posts, your messages, your work history, or anything else from your LinkedIn profile.

We also don't send LinkedIn any of your Bonito Hub activity. Bonito and LinkedIn are independent data controllers for this exchange — the only thing that travels between them is the one-time consent.

For the full legal text, see our Privacy Policy on LinkedIn verification.

Disconnecting LinkedIn

You can disconnect at any time from Account → LinkedIn verification. When you disconnect:

  • All LinkedIn-derived data is removed from your account.

  • We revoke the access token with LinkedIn.

  • Your verified status is removed. You can re-verify later if you change your mind.

What changes when you disconnect:

  • You can't create new organizations, claim organizations, or accept new organization invitations until you re-verify.

  • Your existing organization memberships are not affected. If you're an OWNER or ADMIN of an organization, you keep that role.

Common questions

Do you post anything to my LinkedIn? No. The connection is read-only and limited to the data above. We never write to your LinkedIn profile.

What if my LinkedIn name doesn't exactly match my Bonito Hub name? That's fine. We don't enforce a match — we use the LinkedIn data as proof that the LinkedIn account is real and reachable, not to police your name.

Can I use a different LinkedIn account later? Yes. Disconnect the current one, then verify with the new one.
